Welcome

Gold medal event rider, Stuart Tinney, is the consummate equestrian professional. In a tough and difficult sport, Stuart continues to produce incredible results, beautifully schooled horses and well trained pupils.

In the competition arena, Stuart has had more success than any other Australian rider based in this country. An Olympic gold medal from Sydney 2000, representative honors at the 2004 Athens Olympics and since 1988 at consecutive World Equestrian Games.

In recognition of his success, in 2000 Stuart was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) and was inducted into the “Sport Australia Hall of Fame” in November 2003. Stuart was also very proud to be awarded the Anna Savage Medal for the "Best & Fairest" rider in 1997, 2000 & 2007.

Over the past two decades Stuart, with support from his wife, Karen, has created a reputable equestrian business training horses and riders for the Olympic disciplines. Stuart is an accredited level three coach (the highest possible) and Karen is an accredited level one coach. Many elite riders under the Tinney tutorage have progressed on to represent their country.

The Tinney's have also produced countless Advanced level horses, selling many on to further their careers with riders from all around the world. Some competing internationally include Ava, Carrera, Boxster and Tallyho Sambucca.

Stuart and Karen live in Sydney's north-west with their two young daughters Jaymee and Gemma. They employ three staff to help them with their equestrian business “Tinney Eventing” (TE).

As well as these main achievements there were lots of successful competitions during the 2011 season for all including our working student Hannah Walls competing successfully at CCI**. We introduced Aude Reubrecht to all our team as our new Head Girl. Aude has certainly had to learn the ropes very quickly and had big shoes to fill after the departure of Amy Mc Gregor. Amy now working at EA National and doing a fine job!

Thank you to all that help and support us maintain our top position in Australia.. You are part of our team and we can’t thank you enough. We hope to carry your logos with pride all the way into 2012 and towards The London Olympics.

  • Nature Vet CEVA introducing their Pentosan Gold... complementing their Pentosan. Both Pentosan and Pentosan Gold are used at TE and100% endorsed.
  • CopRice certainly wins hands down as being the best and most reliable complete feed on the market. From our Elite to the girl’s horses, to the yearlings and not forgetting the most important horse JEEPSTER! Who at 26 still looks like a Gold medal winning horse!
  • HorseLand always trustworthy with an amazing range of saddlery and apparel which suits all ages, great rewards and a fabulous Australian company!
  • Bates saddles are part of our success with saddles for all types and all disciplines: Why not try a Bates, you will be very impressed as we always are with their range.
  • Ecomist is a very valuable part of our team here, and the horses would thank you if they were Mr. ED! NO flies in summer what more could you want.. Too good to believe!
  • Kingsland for their top of the line Competition clothing.

The year that was for Tinney Eventing

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, we hope to do Australia proud in 2012. Special thanks to all our owners the EA, NSWIS and our supporters! Best wishes TE

Lakes and Craters win for Pluto Mio

What a great finish to the end of the season.. John and Jane Pittards Pluto Mio wins the CCI*** at Lakes and Craters International 3DE.
We just love this event ( apart from the occasional un seasonable weather) Run by Barry and Lyn Roycroft it is a very relaxed event, fabulous setting in between the volcanic Lakes and a great stay at The Mill .. So quite a luxurious event when you think about it!
With only one horse we almost became too relaxed! If you have not had the pleasure of competing or even visiting Lakes and Craters event in Camperdown VIC (2 hours south of Melbourne) one should consider it.. Highly recommended!
With a spare day in hand after arriving, a trip along the Ocean road to see the 11 Apostles or is it 8 now? Was just a great addition to the whole trip.

Pluto was just a star from start to finish, finishing on his dressage score of 44 and winning by 12 points. The field was not huge but certainly competitive and the track big and full of hills. So fitness of your horse was certainly a priority! Pluto was 1 of 2 under time XC and took the course all in his stride .. He pulled up fantastically and was still full of running for the final phase, the showjumping.

Pluto just looked amazing all weekend! That’s a tough job with white horses! Take a look at Pluto at the trot up.. How amazing are those plaits! Thanks Aude from us and Pluto!

Also Hannah Walls for looking after the horses at home, the dogs, the fish, the birds and Jaymee and Gemma! Not sure who had the toughest job!!

We thank John and Jane Pittard for their support with Pluto and hope that more exciting times will follow in 2012.

All the best, Tinney Eventing.

Stuart wins The Deloitte Australian CCI**** The HSBC challenge on Tim Game’s Panamera.

Panamera and Stuart after their win

Sunday 20th November saw Stuart clench the winning score to take out the CCI**** in Adelaide. With HSBC and Deloitte backing the event it was well worth the trip! (3 tyres plus a fan belt in all)

Panamera, a sensational mare part owned and (sometimes ridden) by Tim Game has just peeked at the right time.. With a 4th at Canberra CIC*** a lead up to the big event in Adelaide she was ready to take all the glory!

Running 4th into the last phase of show jumping it was imperitive Stuart and Panamera had a clear round to keep their 4th. It was a nail biting finish as there was not one rail between 2nd and 3rd and 2 rails for the win. Unfortunately for the other elite riders there was not one clear round between them..Leaving Panamera to take the blue ribbon.

On another note, Jaymee and King rode to take out 18th overall, 6th Junior and win the NSW junior team, sponsored by Horseland.

Jaymee and King jump towards the water complex

Jaymee with the NSW Junior Team

Jaymee and her team sort her hair net out

We are so proud of her performance! Plus thanks to Aude and Hannah who helped keep Jaymee focused!

A big THANK-YOU to our owners Tim Game ( Panamera) Jane and John Pittard ( Pluto Mio) Our Sponsors, CopRice, Horseland, Bates and NatureVet Ceva.. Without you all we could not have been able to bring home this win!

Also EA Australia, NSWIS, Kingsland and Ecomist for their ongoing support

Just as we head for the end of the season the events seem to come quick and fast! Now with Jaymee pestering to go to every 2 star there is in sight we hardly unpack the truck and refill the fridge and we are off again!
Highlights were the Gilbert Bockmann clinic which ran for 4 days, proudly and thankfully supported by EA Aus. Stuart took Pluto, Panamera and Orchard. All were fabulous under the watchful eye of Gilbert, all jumping good 1.30 rounds on the last day.
Goulburn CIC was also a good event for us, with Pluto 3rd in the CIC*** with Panamera 7th and Orchard 11th. Jaymee flew round the CIC** with a 14th overall and the highest placed junior.
Jaymee has also has been commended by Eventing NSW and won an award for the 3 best quality performances at 1 star, well done JT!
Canberra CIC followed with Panamera placing 4th and Jaymee 6th in the CIC** again highest placed junior. Jaymee and Nidhi Dev’s ‘King’ have now qualified for the Deloitte Australian International CCI**
Little Gemma is still riding on and off after her horses injury, so hopefully next year she will be back! Also going back to pony club to perfect her barrel racing!

NEWS !

Karen also became inspired and ran Orchard Hill round a few Elementary tests at a local dressage day.. Ribbons came in both tests! Maybe this may see a few more comps in the future?

Stuart and Pluto with the help of ‘In the limelight productions’ put together a 2 minute promo for CopRice. You will be able to find the final result on:www.coprice.com.au

November 10th - 13th EQUITANA.......................................Orchard Hill Express Eventing
November 18th - 20th Deliotte Australian 3DE Adelaide.....Pluto Mio, Panamera CCI***, King (Jaymee CCI**) and Hannah Walls riding Quebec NZPH CCI**.

That's all for now! Hope to see some of you at Equitana or Adelaide, TE.

The month of September was a little hectic here with The Sydney International 3 DE and Scone CNC, plus the added stress of Jaymee attempting her 2nd 2 star and Karen not being there, as horses needed to be ridden at home that weekend!

However she was in very good hands (with her father!) Jaymee did a great round on King and completed the 2 star just out of the places.

Just have to give Horseland a plug for their Euro-Star tails that fit Jaymee superbly and are a very reasonable price for such quality.

Stuart managed to come home with a fully intact daughter and a black eye very kindly given to him from one of the youngsters slipping over on the flat!

Orchard Hill who has always been in the background as one of our top horses is really pulling out some performances with a 4th in the CNC 3 star.

Recently CopRice introduced their sponsored rider team to a brand new look! With a NSW development day the team got together to talk Nutrition, animal welfare, value and the unique benefits of CopRice and NutriRice. Loaded with information and knowledge they are all set to help riders with their horses diet and well being! More info www.coprice.com.au

Going back to the Sydney 3DE, Stuart took Jane and John Pittard’s Pluto Mio in the CCI***. ‘Wow’ what an improvement, 2nd in dressage, just behind the leader. Excited was an understatement! Clear XC and then 2 rails show jumping which was a shame, however we still have a bit to work on and the course was a little tight for him with such a scopey enthusiastic jump. We love having him, he has practically stepped into Vettori’s shoes (well almost!) We appear to be collecting white horses and at one stage the yard looked like a Spanish Riding school! PS thanks Horseland (again) for your amazing support of glo white shampoo. Talking of Horseland we are so impressed with their new range in clothing and horse tack! We have fallen in love with their sheep skin lined saddle cloths (plus lots of other products) they are excellent and wash perfectly!

Pluto Mio at the Sydney International 3DE trot up and show jumping to finish 4th.

Coming up we have a number of events, Gouburn CIC and Canberra CIC and then Adelaide CCI4* followed with Lakes and Craters CCI. We have some International riders coming from Italy to compete at these events on Vettori and Watermark Grayson, this is very exciting to have International Elite riders coming to Australian shores to compete in the big events.

Pluto Mio runs 2nd at Equestriad Camden NSW CNC***.

With record entries for Equestriad (470) and very competitive combinations we were all thrilled with Jane and John Pittard’s ‘Pluto Mio’ finishing with one of only 4 clear show jump rounds. Pluto looked very comfortable and relaxed all weekend.

Eventing certainly has its ups and downs, with a great result in the 3 star for Stuart, there was also Jaymee’s first 2 star. A very happy girl in her loaned top hat and tails (thanks Hannah) Jaymee and King unfortunately had 2 stops in the show jumping, after running 8th in a class of almost 50! Her XC was just ‘awesome’ as they say! We were so pleased with her, however with King jumping very extravagantly over the big show jump track, he became a little unsettled to stop twice. So a bit more practice for King and Jaymee.

Hannah Walls our new rider and groom was also doing her first 2 star along with Jaymee. Not such a great result for Hannah and Rex after a mishap at the last XC fence. Such a shame when you are decked out in all your new KINGLAND gear!! Ouch!

"John and Jane Pittard's Pluto Mio at SIEC"

As well as John and Jane Pittard’s Pluto coming to our yard, we have purchased ‘Kinnordy Gymeon’ from Steph Bender a 5 year old bred from The Kinnordy Stud (Gymnastic Star out of a Graf Lander mare) Gymeon (stable name Ken) cam 2nd in his start at SIEC prelim. Another addition to the competition crew is ‘Gosh’ who had a 5th in the pre-nov section at weekend SIEC. Plus another new addition is a young T/B ‘My Thai’ owned by us who had a 5th in the prelim at SIEC on his first start.

With the Sydney CCI*** looming, followed by The Deloitte Australian CCI**** in Adelaide in November we will have a full team of International horses to prepare. Including a three star start for Olivia Bunn’s GV Anzac at Lakes and Craters.

June saw a few surprises here at Tinney Eventing! Our very fabulous Orchard Hill pulled out a cracker result at Melbourne International 3DE with a 4th in the CCI***! We certainly were very impressed with the event and its hospitality, a big thanks to the event and their sponsors.
Orchard will now campaign at the 3 star level this year and hopefully he will be getting the experience needed to compete in the World Class arena for the upcoming years ahead.

More exciting news is the rise of our daughter Jaymee in the one star classes. With a 5th at Equestriad CIC* OPEN (1st Junior) and then this weekend a 3rd CIC* OPEN at the National Championships Berrima (1st Junior which makes her The Australian Junior Champion!) With these results on Nidhi Dev’s Murrabong Kinganui Jaymee will be outdoing her father soon! To read Jaymee’s ‘famous’ blog go to www.equestrianlife.com.au It is a fun read!

I would just like to add that King is not young (18 this August) and what a star! Powered by Coprice NutriRice all the way! (Plus a little help from Cosequin!) You just got to love these products!
More news is the purchase of a new horse for Gemma (finally I hear her sigh!) Mighty Midget a one star horse (15.3 measured!) and was bought from Simon Tanish (the owner Rachael Cock) and what a find! “Midge” is everything Simon and Rachael said! Thanks... I can’t tell you how important it is to have an honest seller!

Vettori featured as Equestrian Life’s ‘Horse Hero’ subscribe now! www.equestrianlife.com.au

The month of May flew by, with the Sydney World Cup at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre the first weekend. It was great to have Vettori out after his well deserved break after WEG. What a horse! He went to the WC as if it was a walk in the park! Coming in with a 4th ribbon, just behind Shane Rose and Chris Burton (see great pic!) Vettori (Kiwi) is just going so well and very established we could not have been more pleased with him on his first run back. Watermark Grayson unfortunatley got a foot abscess 2 days before his run! Good timing Frank!! So did not get a run.

Equestriad at Camden had weather to die for and what a fun great event, well done to all those who ran the event. We took 4 horses to do the CIC***, a little busy for Stuart as well as Kinnordy Genuine in the CIC**(came 7th). More importantly Jaymee was doing her first one star! The best result was Jaymee! 5th in the open CIC* (1st Junior) and boy did she get great prizes from the event sponsors! She is now hooked on this event! Sarah Ingham’s Watermark Grayson came 7th, Panamera after her 2nd in the dressage had a canter around the XC coming in 11th. Kinnordy Rubino who has won his last 3 starts, 12th in his first 3 star and Orchard Hill 14th. We were very pleased with them all, in a class of 35 starters.

With a flurry of events in the past month it seems like the season break was so long ago! Eventing at SIEC held their mid week competition on the 23rd & 24th February. In the CNC** Stuart came 4th on Orchard Hill and 12th and Kinnordy Genuine. Stuart was riding Marrabong Kinganui 2nd CNC* for Nidhi Dev while she is recovering from a shoulder operation, after being knocked over on the road by a bike while visiting her family in India!! Nidhi is still in India! Get better soon! Ferragamo also owned by Nidhi Dev came 3rd in the Prelim. Double Dare owned by Clare McKinnon had his first ever appearance at a competition, he was in the Intro and put in a fantastic dressage and jumping round, unfortunately he thought he was too  fat to get over a skinny fence on the XC course and ended up walking home. Recently we welcomed Tara Rogers to our team. Tara took the ride on Koyuna Will, this was his first competition to place10th in the Intro. Well done Tara. Will is for sale $15,000 neg. January saw us have The George Morris Show Jumping clinic over 3 days. George is such an asset for us. Coming all this way and continues to give the most intricate lessons leaving no stone unturned.

Stuart took our 2 Kinnordy horses Genuine and Rubino. We would like to thank Vicki Roycroft for organizing and the NSWIS for their support.

The last weekend in January before School went back we took a fabulous trip to The Wallaby Hill event with the girls and Stuart on Koyuna Levi who placed 3rd in the pre-nov. Wallaby Hill Farm is just the most amazingly manicured farm, just mind blowing. As well as the event being so well run it was a refreshing start to the season!

Happy New Year to you all! We hope that you all had a great Christmas. It is now time (well almost!) to work off all those extra calories and look forward to the 2011 season of Eventing!

We are sure that some of you are on holiday but we would like to share a few family pics with you and then give you some information on what Tinney Eventing has in store for 2011

WHATS IN STORE

Vettori, Panamera and Watermark Grayson will have a part restful 2011 with a few major events along the way. All 3 horses being selected for the National Elite Squad.  We will concentrate on their training and preparation for the 2012 London Olympics, which will be upon us sooner than we think!

2011 we will concentrate on the younger horses and clinics. Also Orchard Hill, Kinnordy Rubino and Genuine will establish their selves at 3 star level.

Just a brief mention that Wayne Roycroft our National Coach of 22 years has resigned from his position. We thank you Wayne for your amazing input and we personally wish you well. You looked great next to Vettori in his Equus Edge Compression suit! (See pic) at WEG!

Tinney Eventing will also put together a series of clinics (proudly involving our sponsors (see panel for sponsors and their links) who we hope some of you may attend. Keep an eye on the clinic page. If anyone would like to go on our clinic mailing list just email info@tinneyeventing.com

Just remember summer is definitely really here and so too are the flies! Well actually we don’t have any around here! Install Ecomist it really works. Why not try a dispenser in your truck too? Start the eventing season with no flies that will be novel! Just go to sponsor logo for your link to ECOMIST.

Wow hasn’t the year just flown by, it seems like only yesterday we started, but then we looked back and realized that so much has happened in 2010 here at Tinney Eventing.

  • The EA NSW awards dinner saw Watermark Grayson claim “Horse of the Year” with his Owner Sarah Ballard (ne Ingham) claiming “Owner of the Year”.

  • There were many clinics run with great success both in NSW and in WA. All who attended came away with new found knowledge and skills. If you fancy running one or want to join in contact info@tinneyeventing.com .

  • Stuart was engaged to speak at conferences throughout Australia and overseas and has now a new respect for the power point presentation.

  • Karen took on role as the Sydney coach for the Youth Development Squad. The program has been a great success and will continue to grow into 2011.

  •  Coprice with their NutriRice range, helped with another new initiative this year the NSW NutriRice Star Squad. Again by all reports it has been a fantastic addition to the scene.

  • Stuart was awarded a Gold scholarship from the NSWIS. The squad schools run throughout the year. NSWIS also helps with funding to competitions which we are very grateful for.

We have welcomed a great many students both from overseas and Australia to work and train at TE. Thank you Emma Scott for your relief whilst at WEG. Good Luck for 2011.

  • TE has 3 horses on the National Elite Squad Vettori, Panamera and Watermark Grayson. Also all three were nominated for WEG!

  • Stuart was invited to go on fact finding mission to the WEG test event in the U.S.A. The trip was well worth while even though the rest of us at TE were unsure about all the pictures of the fried food he had been eating! Thank you EA for this opportunity and your support during WEG.

  • Melbourne 3DE saw the launch of the new book “An Eventful Life” with Stuart being one of the featured riders, he has been doing many signings. The CCI*** competition saw Panamera place 2nd and Vettori 5th.

  • Sydney 3DE was the 10 year anniversary of the Sydney Olympics and Jeepster came along with Stuart with their Gold Medal guest appearance. Sydney was also the last hit out for the WEG. Stuart was selected on Panamera or Vettori.

‘Cantering towards Kentucky’ was the social fundraiser of the year. $50,000 was raised to assist the members of the Australian Eventing Team at WEG. This was a tremendous effort put together by some extraordinary people, from the organizers, auction donators, MC’s plus all the people who attended purchasing tickets and items.

The World Equestrian Games was the main focus of the year. The world’s best horses and riders competing in 8 events over 16 days. Stuart was selected on Vettori and made the Team and can be commended for coming 8th individually in the world.

  • In the lead up to the WEG, TE took part in some trials for Equine Compression suits for horses. Vettori had his own customized pair for WEG. Thank you to Equine Edge they worked amazingly!
  • Adelaide 3DE saw Stuart being awarded the Anna Savage Medal for the Best & Fairest rider (for the 4th time); Vettori was also awarded the Peppermint Grove Memorial Trophy for the Outstanding Event horse of the year.
  • EQUITANA was in Melbourne both Stuart & Karen attended visiting the Coprice, Nature Vet, Horseland, Bates and EA stands also signing An Eventful Life books.
  • Bates New Isabelle dressage saddle was launched.

Also not to be forgotten on the list is the numerous Eventing, Dressage and Show Jumping competitions attended and the many ribbons won by the whole TE team.

We would like to take this time to thank our sponsors for their ongoing assistance to help us at TE to stay at the leading edge of our sport.

  • Bates Australia for continuing to supply us with a fantastic range of highest quality saddles and accessories anyone could wish for.

  • CopRice/NutriRice for making sure that the horse’s diet is balanced and nutritional, helping our horses look and perform to their best.

  • Nature Vet for helping to keep all the horses in A1 condition with their great range of supplements.

  • Horseland for keeping the Equine, Human and Canine members of TE decked out in the finest and latest range of gear.

  • Ecomist for making TE a fly and bug free zone, so that we can continue to perform without the hassle of those hideous flies. (We love Ecomist!)

We would not be able to do this without our wonderful owners and their amazing support, they play a large role at TE, Pete O’Connell & Kathy Ward who own Vettori, Tim Game with Panamera, Molly, Freya and Forrest. Sue Walker with San Antonio, Sarah Ballard with Watermark Grayson and her more recent investment with us ‘Gosh’ (NZ T/B) plus Olivia Bunn with GV Anzac.

We would also like to thank Brett Hudson, Jim Cady and Ritchie our farrier’s and the veterinary team at Agnes Banks for their efforts throughout the year and Dougie Fountain who is always there for us. Stephanie Bender for her continuous hard work. Last but not least our fantastic Head Girl Amy McGregor. Amy spent over 2 months away with not only Vettori at WEG but oversaw all our WEG horses afterwards, flew with them and settled them all in quarantine in NZ. We truly missed her here.. and if there is not an industry award for her dedication to our Aussie horses there truly should be!! Thanks Amy we love you to bits!

We will be sending you our fabulous special Christmas issue soon, until then take care from all at TE.

Just returned from The Australian International 3de in Adelaide The team very pleased with Sarah Ballard’s Watermark Grayson finishing 5th in the CCI**** and Olivia Bunn’s GV Anzac 7th in the CIC**.

Stuart had a great ride on Watermark Grayson and was one of only two riders to go clear and under time in the cross country section.  Stuart said: ‘The course rode really well – the time was tight so I had to push on towards the end of the course but when I asked for more, he moved up a gear. It was really slippery in places but Grayson stayed really focused. When I got back, I discovered that two studs on the inside of each back hoof had sheared off but he has pulled up fit and well and I’m really happy with him’. This was Grayson’s first 4 Star cross country and it was certainly impressive with them finishing in 2nd place with less than one rail between him and the leader after the cross country. Unfortunately Grayson was a little distracted in the show jump ring and pulled 3 rails to finish 5th.

Stuart Tinney also had a great ride on Olivia Bunn’s GV Anzac to finish 7th in the CIC**

Stuart was in limelight as the winner of the Peppermint Grove Memorial Trophy for the most outstanding Event horse of the year with Vettori, his WEG mount and last year’s winner of the Australian 3DE, owned by Peter O’Connell and Kathy Ward.

Stuart receives The Peppermint Grove Memorial Trophy for The Best Event Horse 2010 Vettori from Gill Rolton.

Stuart also won the Anna Savage Memorial Award – awarded to the Best and Fairest Eventing Rider for the year and made a gracious speech to accept both awards prior to the start of the Four Star jumping. ‘It certainly is a well deserved award as Stuart is an outstanding rider and an excellent ambassador for Australian eventing.’ Pam Savage. Stuart is the only event rider to win this award 4 times.

After being home from WEG for 4 weeks now, our lives have returned to normal. Competing, riding, coaching, kids homework!!

We would like to thank Emma Scott and Steph Bender for their great care of the horses while away.

Camden Equestriad was the first competition after WEG.  A nice run for the horses competing.  Sarah Ballard’s Watermark Grayson 4th in the CIC***, Kinnordy Rubino 9th CIC** Olivia Bunn’s GV Anzac looking a little more solid 14th CIC** and Kinnordy Genuine still struggling with the dressage... but super double clear to finish in the top 20.

Watermark Grayson

We must just mention that while we continue with our lives here is Australia, all the WEG horses are still in quarantine, now in New Zealand for their last 4 weeks. Amy has been just amazing staying with all the horses, flying with them all and remaining in NZ until all horses appeared fit and well... She is a hero in our eyes... A BIG thanks Amy, we missed you here. Happy that you are back. Amy flew home last night and repacked her bags to go with Stuart to Adelaide.

Watermark Grayson will attend the CCI**** and GV Anzac the CIC**

Good Luck to all horses and riders competing at Adelaide. A fabulous event to be a part off.. It’s not too late if you want to go!!

Take Care: Karen and all at TE (more news after Adelaide/Equitana)

Just returned from the Alltech World Equestrian Games, we are very pleased to be back on Australian soil! A wonderful experience, riding with the best riders and their horses in the world and certainly a very pleasing result, 8th place. Not sure about the small brown rosette for such a mammoth effort! Just to recap: Vettori (Kiwi) felt just fabulous from start to finish... Dressage coach Harry Boldt always appeared pleased, and jumping Kiwi was always solid with Wayne Roycroft. Thank you both for your expertise and also Rob Hanna as our ‘Chef’.

We would like to thank Equus Edge for supplying Vettori (Kiwi) with his own Gradient compression suit! Obviously they helped Kiwi perform and recover! Anyone interested in a set please send us an email, we actually will recommend them (see picture).. Stuart also wore his which he truly felt help with his recovery.. (no picture!!)

A big thank you to Vettori’s owners Pete O’Connell and Kathy Ward continuing to believe in us. It was wonderful to have you and your family with us for WEG.. Also Tim Game, Sue Walker and Sarah Ballard. Also our major sponsors, Coprice, Bates, Nature Vet and Horseland.  Coprice making sure we had the correct feed for our final preparation in The States.. this was a vital part to our success.

Thank you to The Australian Sports Commission and the EA for the funding of WEG.

We are very proud and thrilled that Stuart has been selected as flag bearer for the opening ceremony at The Alltech World Equestrian Games. Stuart will certainly carry the Australian flag with honour. His family and friends are all very proud of him.

Kentucky is heating up for the Alltech Equestrian Games...Literally with days reaching 37 degrees. It appears that the Aussie Board shorts are out!

Vettori certainly appeared to enjoy his haul to Lexington with a buck on arrival and a glint of freshness... This is very much a relief after such a journey. The picture shows Vettori being checked in to Hotel WEG!

The Kentucky equine Park is just looking fabulous and excitement is very much becoming real to us all.

With lots going on here and in Kentucky we are suggesting that you take time to stay in touch with An Eventful life web site for up to date information, blogs and photos.

NEWS FLASH

Stuart is named on the WEG Eventing Team with Vettori and Panamera.

With 3 horses nominated for The Alltech World Equestrian Games, we have had a few busy weeks here at TE. Our last ‘trail of fitness’ was at the Sydney International 3DE.. with a special WEG class. Watermark Grayson (owned by Sarah Ballard) Panamera (owned by Tim Game) and Vettori (owned by Pete O’ Connell and Kathy Ward) all showed great fitness with a final result which had Vettori at the helm in the class (however non competitive) with Panamera close behind and then Grayson a few behind Panamera. Vettori just seems to get better with age! After his Adelaide win (where he was the 2nd fastest time XCountry) and well under time at the weekend.

All 3 horses galloped fantastically and all went round clear XCountry (under time) on their selected course. More importantly all pulled up in great shape.

The selected horse and rider combinations have been notified. Congratulations to Megan Jones, Sonja Johnson, Chris Burton, Sam Griffith and Paul Tapner, as well as Stuart with both horses. The training camp which begins next week will have all 3 horses in, which is great as there is access to such great training on all 3 horses, such as Wayne Roycroft and Harry Boldt.

Jeepster and Stuart ‘special appearance’ in the 10 years on Olympic celebrations. (All pics Julie Wilson and Horse Deals)

While we all wait in anticipation, the work continues for ‘Cantering towards Kentucky’ 3rd Sept. looking like a great night with fabulous support, gifts and a full house of 230!

www.an-eventful-life.com.au Is the web that supports ‘Cantering towards Kentucky’ all auction items and news will be posted on this site.

A quick thanks to our owners and sponsors. We would not be in such a position without your continued support! THANK YOU ALL..

Some very good news is Panamera (owner Tim Game) has been put on the Elite list, alongside her stable companion Vettori (owners Pete O’Connell and Kathy Ward) We are very excited to have then both there and considered for selection for WEG and the future Olympics in London.

With WEG getting closer and consideration for a berth on the team, the pressure of the trip to Kentucky is very daunting and more importantly expensive! So this leads us to a very important fundraiser night, in support of our Australian Elite event riders heading for Kentucky.  .. ‘Cantering towards Kentucky’ A fun night to be held on Friday 3rd September at The Crown Plaza Norwest NSW, All proceeds will go to our Elite eventing riders...More info can be found soon WATCH THIS SPACE!

KEEP THE NIGHT FREE!! FRIDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER.

School holidays are here and the first week saw Stuart and Karen coach at the Interschool’s Winter Camp. With record numbers this year and lots of development coaching it was a huge success. Awards were given to 10 of the 120 junior riders for ‘horsemanship’ this was chosen by nomination from coaches! We were all very excited when Gemma won her award!

Jaymee is very much enjoying her new horse Frosty (Tundra) what a change going onto your first real horse! (See pic)

Just home from The Melbourne International 3DE with ribbons on both horses!  Panamera 2nd and Vettori 4th in the CCI***.

We were very happy with both Panamera (Buzz) and Vettori (Kiwi)..Both were just super in the Dressage. At the end of the day Buzz placed 2nd and Kiwi 5th.

X Country day Kiwi and Stuart were the first to head out. The ground was very slippery. Kiwi took a few slides and Stuart rode the round with some cautions (Stuart also recovering from a 3 week virus! Still not 100% fit) However they looked very polished and did a faultless clear with some time.

When it was time for Buzz to go Stuart was a little happier with himself and the ground had dried a fraction. Buzz also did a faultless round and both horse and rider travelled a little quicker. At the end of the day Buzz was 2nd and Kiwi 5th. Not a bad day we thought!

The final Showjumping day we could not have asked any more with both horses clear in the showjumping. With a final result of 2nd for Tim Games ‘Panamera’ and  Kathy Wards ‘Vettori’ moving up to 4th position.

TE would like to thank Palmer Higgs publishers of ‘An Eventful Life’ for their fabulous book launch which appeared to go very well. With all 5 Olympians signing in between rides!

(Photo Credits:Julie Wilson Horse Deals and An Eventful Life)

TE would again like to thank our very supporting owners Kathy Ward and Pete O’Connell (Vettori) Tim Game (Panamera) Sarah Ingham (Watermark Grayson) Sue Walker (San Antonio). Our Sponsors Coprice feeds, Bates, NatureVet and Horseland.

Breifly thankyou to the NSWIS for their analysis program, footage and competition support.

At home...

Midyear here already... our life appears to be horses, horses and more horses! With back to back competitions.  Mostly Jaymee and Gemma these past weeks.

With the girls school, Galston High, holding their annual Interschool Show jumping day  which was very proudly sponsored  by NutriRice and Bates with their Wintec saddle cloths, which happen to be the school colours, all of our Equestrian Team looked just fab! All of the Galston team came home with ribbons and the winning team (again!!) Thanks to both NutriRice and Bates for their kind support.

Just this week the Tinney girls again represented their School at the ‘Coona Horse Expo’ 5 days of horsemanship: Eventing, showjumping, sporting, 6 bar, barrel racing and hacking.. What an effort by all the organizers, who also put on polo cross and barrel racing The Coona horse Expo housed 680 horses this year which is record attendance! The Grand parade was something else!  It wasn’t our year this year! Jaymee 12th in the Eventing and Gemma 14th.. One great thing about Coona is we always have fun and all the team give all the sports a go! (Poor horses!)

.

With The Melbourne International 3DE starting on Friday 11th. Both Vettori and Panamera competing for WEG selection. The launch of ‘An Eventful Life’ it will be a busy long weekend.

'An Eventful Life' is nearly here!

Most excitingly is the launch of ‘An Eventful life’ a fabulous book, due to be launched in June written by Alison Duthie, published by Palmer Higgs.

We are sure any one who purchases ‘An Eventful life’ will find it a very interesting and inspiring read.www.an-eventful-life.com.au not only can you order your copy but see how informative the site is.. Certainly one to keep in your favourites.

The Eventing season is well under way! The HSBC World Cup Eventing weekend 8th and 9th May saw Vettori come 6th in the CIC***WC and Kinnordy Rubino 4th in the CIC*. We were pleased with both horses, however an uncharacteristic 2 rails for Vettori took him down from 3rd to 6th.

Credit Julie Wilson and Horse Deals

Eventing is such a levelling sport, even for one of the best! With 2 horses placing there also came the elimination of Stuart on GV Anzac.. A slip into the water jump saw Stuart part company with Olivia Bunn’s horse ‘OZ’  (see pics below) Stuart described the fall ‘innocent’ on the part of the horse when his back legs slipped on the edge and then belly flopped into the water..Oz was fine, Stuart too, however a little wet!

Credit Julie Wilson and Horse Deals

The Mount Arthur Scone horse trails was on the 13th & 14th March. San Antonio owned by Sue Walker was in the CNC** class. He put in a fantastic performance and came 2nd. GV Anzac (Oz) owned by Olivia Bunn had is first outing with Stuart at the helm and came 3rd in the PreNovice. Kinnordy Genuine was in the PreNovice B, she took the class by storm and won.

Silver Hills followed 2 weeks later. Koyuna Levi was 7th in his first event ever in pre-lim. Genuine and Anzac moved into their first 1 star with Rubino. Rubino winning by a good margin, Anzac 6th and Genuine 7th. Genuine looking super at the Coprice water! Our student Kelcie Lee 9th in her first event with us.. Well done!

Easter weekend Karen, Jaymee & Frosty and Gemma & Tiggi made their way to Silver Hills for 4 days for the Youth Devotement Squad. The first squad for the year combined with Silver Hills horse trials. Karen is the coach for the Sydney Squad and it was great to see the members and their parents embracing this new initiative with frequent questions and advice. There are not many organisations in Australia or even the world that offer this sort of encouragement to the youth of the sport.

At the Silver Hills event,  Jaymee competed in the prelim JRN and with her new horse Frosty placed 6th and Gemma on Tiggi in the Intro JRN section placed 5th.

February 2010 saw the launch of Nature Vet's new website initiative Nature Vet Direct which provides high quality, well know, Australian made equine products at competitive prices. Nature Vet Direct pledges to return 15% of all website product sales to the horse community by the way of rebates to your selected State Equestrian Australia, State Pony Club, associations and horse welfare charity organisation. Don’t hang around this is a fabulous and easy way to get Nature Vet products delivered to your door!! Visit the website www.naturevetdirect.com.au . Take a look at the Nature Vet cruzin cooler scooters that TE had at Australian International Event in Adelaide (see pic) every yard must have one!

NutriRice, produced by Coprice have come on board supporting Eventing NSW juniors with the also a new initiative ‘The NutriRice Star Squad’ which consists of NSW junior one star riders. The team is 12 juniors and all riders will be supported by NutriRice and Eventing NSW. The NutriRice Star squad was inducted at SIEC on the Saturday evening BBQ.  More information can be found at www.eventingnsw.com.au

Horseland have launched their new logo which is an evolution of their current logo that takes it from the 90’s, to a logo for today and the future. Take a look in our sponsor column and hyperlink your way to Horseland!

Rather exciting news is that we purchased a new horse for Jaymee. This decision came a little quicker than anticipated. Stuart took a trip to VIC recently and with the help of Sharon Ridgway www.eventers.com.au The result was ‘Tundra’ (Frosty) previously owned by Karen Lake and Ally Barry. Jaymee is thrilled with Frosty, however the sale of Fonsie (whom she has outgrown at 5’ 8”) has been rather upsetting. We will now actively sell Fonsie.

NutriRice is pleased to announce their sponsorship of the NSW Junior Star Squad!! ‘The NutriRice Star Squad’ consists of 12 young riders from all over NSW. The program will be run for 12 months carrying the NutriRice banner to all corners of NSW. Well done to those riders who will represent Eventing NSW and NutriRice for 2010. More info www.eventingnsw.com

www.coprice.com.au

NSW Eventing is moving forward with a Youth Development Squad which will involve young eventers from the age of 13-18 that compete from Introductory up to one star.

The program will be set up in 4 sections over NSW and each section will have their own Coach for Squad training. We are all excited that Karen will be Coach for Central Sydney and will oversee approx 25 young riders. The program not only involves riding coaching but also theory lessons which will cover all aspects of being an eventer to code of conduct, nutrition, saddle fitting, grooming and information to parents and riders that lack knowledge in our sport.

The complete Youth program will have over 60 young riders from all over NSW. Well done Eventing NSW. More information go to www.eventingnsw.com

With his Adelaide CCI**** win under his belt, there is no stopping Stuart backing up yet another win at the CCI*** Puhinui New Zealand last weekend on Sarah Ingham’s ‘Watermark Grayson’.

Puhinui in Auckland, set on rolling hills next to the Manukau Bay is very picturesque and very green! Our trip supported by Grayson’s owner Sarah Ingham was just success from start to finish, Grayson could do nothing wrong and just took to the very big and technical Xcountry course like a real pro!

With 6 ditches, 5 rather large corners, 10 arrow heads, and a serious coffin... not many let up fences... and most of the course was maximum height! Grayson galloped with ease and came in 6 seconds under time.

The showjumping was also big, but rode well. Stuart and Grayson finished on their dressage score which is always what you wish for in this sport.

We must thank the Puhinui event for such wonderful hospitality, we were looked after like kings!

A special thanks to Dave and Bridgette Sutton who just made everything happen for us. Thankyou Kaye Coyne for the car (sorry for the flat!) Also Sarah Ingham for taking us all over.

Happy Christmas and Holidays and see you all in 2010

Vettori wins The Australian International 3de CCI**** Adelaide

With temps in the low 40’s, the heatwave and the tough course designed by Wayne Copping took its toll on the 31 starters in the four star class, with only half the field completing the jumping phase on day three. Stuart and Vettori proved their class over the challenging and twisting cross country phase incurring only minor time faults, taking all the direct options to then consolidate their lead after day two by jumping clear to take the title.

This great result for Stuart and Vettori certainly is a highlight for the partnership which has enjoyed success both in Australian and Europe. We are all so proud of Stuart, and all involved at Tinney Eventing. We congratulate Vettori and Vettori's owners, Peter O'Connell and Kathy Ward.

Amy took out ‘The Australian 3de Best Grooms award’ very deserving when you present 3 horses for the CCI**** right to the last phase, sound and still full of running! Thanks Amy you are a legend!

Canberra CIC*** was a great event for Stuart and Panamera. Winning by a whisker! Great competition and we were all thrilled with her win! Orchard was 5th and Grayson 6th.

We then took our horses entered for Adelaide CCI**** to The State Championships Lynton (NSW) in Goulburn. This was to be their last run before The Australian 3de. The horses, Vettori, Panamera and Ari-de-Gwaihir all went really well and finished 2nd (Vettori) 5th (Ari) and 6th (Panamera). All pulled up well and are on track for the big event.

More news is that the Australian 3de (13th-15th Nov) will be holding the Trans Tasman Cup this year. Stuart will be training for a spot on the team prior to the event in SA. Vettori and Panamera (as reserve) have been short listed. The team will be announced after the 1st Vet inspection on the Wednesday (11th Nov) .

Just a few weeks back Jaymee and Gemma represented NSW at the Horseland National Interschool’s in Werribee. We were very proud of the girls with Gemma getting a spot on the podium 4th Showjumping over all and Jaymee 19th in Eventing.

Summer appears to be early this year! With temps in the mid 30’s weekend 12th and 13th for the Sydney 3de it was hot and the ground hard. Stuart won the CCI** class on a catch ride from Olivia Bunn. With only 10 days on Olivia’s GV Billy Elliot Stuart quotes:

‘I was very pleased with Olivia Bunn’s lovely young horse GV Billy Elliot. It was very enjoyable riding such a talented and well trained horse who should have a great future in the sport.’

Stuart also had prepared Sarah Ingham’s ‘Watermark Grayson’ for the CCI***. After 4th place in the dressage, Stuart chose to withdraw Grayson after considering the ground and conditions plus the future of Sarah’s horse. Grayson will now be prepared for The Australian 3de as a reserve CCI**** horse (as Stuart has 3 other 4 star horses). The next plan is to fly him to New Zealand for Puhinui in December.

With summer early we have charged up our Ecomist’s and are ready for the onslaught of the Spring Summer flies and bugs. We are true converts to Ecomist in our yard, in our outdoor area and also truck at events. Anyone that really can’t stand those flies should place your order online now www.ecomist.com.au  or email info@ecomist.com.au

Busy times at Tinney Eventing with ample competitions, and a campaign that will hopefully lead us to the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky USA 2010.

The highly regarded Australian International 3 Day Event is the only 4 * Equestrian competition in the southern hemisphere and one of only six in the world, takings its place alongside Badminton and Burghley in the UK, Kentucky in the USA, Pau in France and Luhmuhlen in Germany. The 2009 event will be held in the Adelaide Parklands from November 13th – 15th and this year will also host the hotly contested Trans Tasman Championship.

Only 3 months ago Adelaide 4 * was on shaky ground and was thought that it would be lost in Australia. Many supporters of the sport came forward with donations to keep the event in Australia.

Event director – and dual Olympian – Mrs Gill Rolton said she was thrilled by the incredible generosity that the event had attracted since making an announcement  that the event was facing the axe because of a budget shortfall.

TE are set to take 3 four star horses:  Vettori, Panamera and Ari de Gwaihir, all contenders for the World Championships in USA Kentucky 2010.

TE donated a substantial amount in the interest of the sport, our owners and our sponsors to keep the 4 star running in Australia. A full list of donations can be found on the website plus information about this fabulous event and what you could do to help save it for the future and keep the event of a standard above all others.

The first weekend in June started better than expected! The Melbourne International 3DE offered good weather, great going and a great result for Sarah Ingham’s ‘Watermark Grayson’ taking out 2nd place in the CCI*** . Stuart was also extremely pleased with ‘Orchard Hill’ in his first CCI**. Gwen, Stuarts mum, has recently bought a share in ‘Orchard’. With both horses taking 3rd after their dressage. Orchard then unfortunately had a glance off an apex... but went onto one of only two clear showjumping rounds to finish 13th.

Nature Vet sponsored ‘The Melbourne 3DE Professional Grooms Award’ and to our great pleasure Amy won. We were very excited that Amy has been recognised for her efforts with us and our horses. Amy has been our Head Girl, PA and great friend for 7 years. Well done Amy it was so well deserved.
